Membership in The Police Pensioners Association of Ontario
PPAO membership includes all retired municipal police personnel in Ontario who belong to a local PPAO police pensioners association affiliate. Direct individual memberships are also available. The PPAO encourages pensioners from both the public and private sectors in Ontario to visit our website and share their concerns and opinions with our membership.
Since its inception, the PPAO has become Ontario’s leading voice speaking out exclusively on the issues having a direct impact on retired police personnel and their families. Among the issues our organization has addressed and that we are continuing to monitor are OMERS strategies and investments, the implementation and effects of the Harmonized Sales Tax and Ontario’s health care system.
The PPAO is part of a Public Sector Pensioners Alliance which includes the Municipal Retirees Organization of Ontario (MROO), Police Retirees of Ontario (PRO) and the Retired Professional Fire Fighters Association of Ontario (RPFFAO).
In addition to our regular Board of Director Meetings, the PPAO hosts two membership meetings annually; an Executive Board Meeting in the spring and our Annual General Meeting in the fall. These two venues provide police pensioner association executives from across Ontario with the opportunity to offer opinions, exchange views and debate the issues that will ultimately serve the best interests of police pensioners.
The PPAO in partnership with Royal Sun Life Alliance (RSA) has developed a Health Care Benefits Package intended to meet the needs of police pensioners and we have also partnered up with AVIVA Insurance to provide complete Home and Automobile Insurance and Travel Insurance at very competitive rates, to our members. More information about both of these programs can be found our members benefit page.
