Over the past 25 years, the PPAO has become Ontario’s leading voice speaking out on the issues having a direct impact on retired police personnel and their families. As a partner with national groups like the Canadian Federation of Pensioners (CFP), we are actively involved with lobbying for changes with federal legislation on Pensions, and Long Term Care issues. Provincially, we continually monitor OMERS strategies, funding, regulatory changes and investments, and changes within the Ontario Health System. The PPAO is a member of the OMERS Retiree Group (ORG), a part of a public sector pensioners alliance which include the Municipal Retirees Organization of Ontario (MROO) and the Ontario Retired Fire Fighters Association (ORFFA). ORG is an OMERS Stakeholder and holds a seat on both the OMERS AC and SC Board of Directors.
The PPAO encourages pensioners from both the public and private sectors in Ontario to visit our website and share their concerns and opinions with our membership.
PPAO membership includes all retired police personnel in Ontario who belong to a local PPAO police pensioners association affiliate with no additional dues payable. For retirees without a local police retiree association, direct individual memberships are also available at the current yearly dues rate.
In addition to our regular Board of Director Meetings, the PPAO hosts their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the spring. This allows police pensioner association executives from across Ontario with the opportunity to offer opinions, exchange views and debate the issues that will ultimately serve the best interests of police pensioners.
The PPAO in partnership with Securian Canada has developed a group Health and Dental Care Benefits Plan, which includes travel insurance, intended to meet the needs of police pensioners. We have also partnered up with Medallion insurance (AVIVA) to provide complete Home and Automobile Insurance and with Mednow Pharmacy to provide an online pharmaceutical service. More information about these programs can be found on our members benefit page.
Through our MemberPerks Program, offered by Venngo, we offer our members a wide variety of discounts on goods and services, not just in Canada, but throughout North America.
The PPAO maintains a presence on Social Media and we invite you to connect with us through Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for regular updates.
